What Can you do to help Katrina Victims

Here are a few things you can do. This is from my homey Vina and was sent out to his email list for his weekly party at Lukas Taproom in Oakland. Please pass around via email and repost as needed. I'm going down to the Grand Lake in Oakland after work to drop off clothes and personal hygine stuff.

////Congresswoman Barbara Lee will be collecting both cash and material donations for the hurricane victims (aka victims of large scale governmental neglect ) at Grand Lake Movie Theater today (Wednesday the 7th) from 8 a.m . to 8 p.m. Accepted donations: children and adult clothing in good condition, school supplies, non-perishable food, children's sleeping items: sleeping bags, clothing, personal hygiene.

/////Other things to do, especially if you are looking for avenues other than the Red Cross (courtesy of www.gameforlife.com):
NAACP Disaster Relief Efforts
The NAACP is setting up command centers in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as part of its disaster relief efforts.
NAACP units across the nation have begun collecting resources that will be placed on trucks and sent directly into the disaster areas.
Also, the NAACP has established a disaster relief fund to accept monetary donations to aid in the relief effort.

Checks can be sent to the NAACP payable to
